It’s getting hot in here…

But don’t worry, no matter what Nelly says, I left my clothes on. This morning I had the dreaded 2 mile warm up, 4×1000 at I pace with 600 jogs, 2 mile cool down, scheduled. This workout makes me want to cry. It’s so hard. Every single interval I think, “you know, an 800 would be just as beneficial…” but we all know that’s not true and while my buddy Jack tortures me, it’s for my own good. So I did it. It actually felt good this morning! I didn’t quite have the consistency I wanted, but I did it.

And oh boy… it’s starting to get warm here in Northern California. Temps are supposed to get in the 90s (!) this weekend and as you can see below it was darn warm this morning. Please note the red eyes and dark circles that let you know the pollen is out and spring has sprung!! img_00491And yeah, I know it’s sideways but wordpress is being weird. What’s playing on my ipod? Oh, I’m glad you asked. I can’t get through intervals without my good friends Kanye, Eminem, Nelly and Lady Gaga. Gotta put on my poker face!

After my tough workout I did high knees, butt kicks, lunges, squats, step ups, planks, bird dogs and crunches. PHEW. This whole, “build strength” goal of mine is time consuming and kinda burns. But I sort of love it. Okay, who am I kidding? My warm up jog home I had a stupid smile on my face the whole time because the weather is beautiful, I’mΒ  healthy enough to run, I have a beautiful track at my disposal and life is good! Got home, made a HUGE bowl of oatmeal (intervals make me so hungry!!) and then flew out the door to work. I’ve been biking and I think the 15 minutes of easy riding (in a suit, lol) gets the junk out of my legs because I’ve noticed a huge decrease in my soreness lately.

This weekend I’m running in a local 10k (and by local I mean literally 1/4 mile from my house!) with my best friend who is running her first 10k! I’m so excited for her– after 2 babies she picked up running and is challenging herself for the first time. I’m sure I’ll have a little race envy because I’d love to be out there running for myself but running with E is going to be such a privilege and I can’t wait for her to cross that finish line. My goal is to trick her into a 1/2 before long. πŸ™‚

Happy Thursday, kids!
